A little bit about Coco Starlight

Coco is our first homebred and is out of Gregorian (IRE) and our mare Passionate Love.

GBB registered Coco can win up to 20,000 in bonus prize money per eligible race.
Owners and other connections can win up to £16,000 per race won.

She will hit the track in Autumn of 2022 and run over a distance of 7 furlongs to a mile. She’s stubborn, sassy and loves her food.

Once the trainer, jockey and yard staff have received their prize money, 10% of what is left will be donated to The Brain Tumour Charity. https://www.thebraintumourcharity.org

Any prize money left will be shared among the the owners of Coco, please check out T&C’s for more information about prize money.

We support this charity as one of our owner’s  9 year old daughter is recovering from a brain tumour and her daughter followed Coco’s progress whilst she was on the Starlight ward.

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally.

* If you miss or fail to make any instalment, your ownership will cease and you will forfeit all prize money owed to you.

Gregorian (IRE) and Passionate Love (IRE)

Coco’s sire is based in Ireland, a beautiful, athletic grey, he won both Group 2 and 3 races. His progeny already includes group and listed winners and they have a great win rate. (UTD stats can be found on https://www.stallionguide.com/stallions/gregorian/stud-record/)

Passionate Love  – Coco’s dam is half sister to Folkswood (rated 114) and Good Omen (rated 107)  https://www.racingpost.com/profile/horse/881442/magic-nymph. Passionate Love’s sire Bated Breath, had 19 black type performers in 2021 and her dam (Magic Nymph) is out of the legendary Galileo who has now passed which makes this bloodline precious and valued. https://www.stallionguide.com/stallions/bated-breath/

Julie and Steve – our trainer

Julie Camacho and her husband Steve run their yard in Malton – https://www.juliecamachoracing.co.uk

Julie was born and bred into racing. Her grandfather, Charlie Hall, began training in 1942. Charlie Hall was Champion Jumps Trainer in 1955/56, winning the Champion Hurdle with Doorknocker.  Julie’s father, Maurice, took over the reins from Charlie Hall in 1977, winning the Mackeson Gold Cup with Clear Cut in his first season.  Julie and Steve took over the yard in 1998.

Steve’s first job was with the legendary Jimmy Fitzgerald, and he also learned from many of the north’s best trainers: Malcolm Jefferson, Brian Ellison, Richard Fahey and Charles Booth to name a few.  Further afield, Steve also spent time in North America.

In 1996 he joined Luca Cumani as assistant trainer. This period of time shaped Steve’s training philosophies more than any other.  After a two-year stint, Steve returned to Malton to begin his own training odyssey with Julie and we are thrilled to have them as our trainers.
